It took immense courage to defy the Führer’s edict regarding acceptable reading material. That someone who embraced much of Nazi ideology did so, begs the question of how we should define dissidence.

I've often wondered as I work through White Rose documents how that secrecy and suppression of who one really was, whom one truly loved, affected Söhngen and Hans Scholl and others. It had to have been a heavy burden.
